• The new contractor classification system in a workshop at Asharqia Chamber

    In cooperation with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, new contractor classification system workshop would be held at Asharqia Chamber.

     

    On Tuesday, April 10, Asharqia Chamber will organize a workshop on the classification of new contractors in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, at the Chamber's headquarter at 9am. The workshop aims at introducing the contractors' society to the new classification system and its role in the development of the construction industry in the Kingdom within the framework of the national transformation program 2020.

    The workshop will provide a detailed explanation of the frameworks and procedures on which the classification is based. It will clarifying the new classification areas and criteria, how to communicate with other government agencies, as well as explaining the method of registration, and what requirements are essential in completing the registration process properly.

    The Chairman of the Board of Asharqia Chamber, Abdulhakeem Al-Khalidi, said that the construction sector in the Kingdom is characterized by diversity that depends on the variety of activities and projects. Therefore, this requires the conduct of new classification that would be planned and implemented by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs. This has been and remains the demand of investors in this sector, especially after the launch of the General Authority of Contractors, and after the positive decisions announced by the government to support and motivate contractors. In fact, the government recognized the importance of the role played by the sector in light of the comprehensive development requirements that are emphasized by the Kingdom's budget for the current year.

    AlKhalidi expressed his hope for more development of the contracting sector. Thus, it bears the largest share in the implementation of the requirements of the vision of the Kingdom of 2030, which is characterized by the active participation of the private sector.​
